Shop management
The shop management platform built for heavy-duty
Meridian is shop management software for heavy-duty parts distributors, truck repair shops, and the buying groups they belong to. It covers the counter, the bays and the books in one system: parts inventory across locations, repair orders with inspections and labor, and a real ledger underneath instead of a monthly export into one.
Light-duty software assumes one location, one price, one entity
Heavy-duty operations break all three in the first month. A second branch, a fleet account that does not pay retail, and a second legal entity that owns the building are ordinary here. That is why so many shops end up running a parts system, a shop system and an accounting package, and paying somebody to be the integration between the three.
Parts is a business, not a stockroom
Price levels, cores, vendor part numbers, several suppliers per part with their own costs and lead times, and bin locations per branch. A light-duty system models none of it.
More than one location is normal
Per-location stock, a part picker that shows which branch has it, and transfers that move cost without creating a sale.
The books cannot be an afterthought
General ledger, accounts payable, AR aging, ACH batches, per-branch P&L, and several legal entities with intercompany settlement.
Everything the shop floor runs on
The operational half stands on its own. The order, the inspection, the schedule and the invoice, in one flow.
- Repair orders with labor, parts, sublet and fees, plus VIN decode and PM schedules
- Digital inspections with condition ratings, photos and printable reports
- A built-in flat-rate labor guide and a per-order tech time clock
- Scheduling with tech assignment and customer confirmations
- A customer portal with estimate approvals, history and balance
- KPI dashboards, gross profit, advisor sales and tech productivity
Where to go next
If you are running the bays, the truck repair page goes deeper on repair orders, inspections and the labor guide. If you are running a counter and a set of bays as one business, the shop page covers both halves and the reporting an owner reads.
It keeps working as the operation gets more complicated
A second location, a second legal entity, or a buying group membership are all the same platform, not a migration. Multi-location inventory, intercompany agreements with FIFO settlement, and cross-dealer search are already in the system you would be starting on.

Questions
- What does Meridian cover that light-duty shop software does not?
- Parts-distribution depth (price levels, cores, vendor part numbers, several suppliers per part, bin locations per branch), multi-location inventory with transfers, and a full ledger including several legal entities with intercompany settlement.
- Is the accounting included or exported?
- Included. General ledger, accounts payable, AR aging, payments, recurring billing and NACHA ACH batch export run in the same system that took the order. There is also a QuickBooks Desktop journal export if your accountant wants one.
- Does it handle more than one location?
- Yes. Stock is held per location with on-hand, committed, on-order, min and max, and branch-to-branch transfers move cost only, so internal movement does not inflate revenue.
- What is on the shop-floor side?
- Repair orders with labor, parts, sublet and fees, VIN decode, PM schedules, digital inspections with photos, a flat-rate labor guide, a per-order time clock, scheduling and a customer portal.
