# The exit is a feature, and it ships with every edition.

Software in this market is priced on how hard it is to leave. We would rather be priced on whether the product is good, which means making the exit boring: your records, in open formats, on demand, for as long as you need them, including after you have gone.

## Why a vendor would give you this

Because the alternative corrupts the product. The day leaving becomes expensive is the day a roadmap starts working on switching costs instead of on the work. Every feature after that gets a little more proprietary, every format a little less standard, and one day you cannot leave. Committing publicly to the opposite is the only version of this promise worth anything, because it is the only version that costs us something to break.

## Export everything, on every edition

Exports are part of the core pack, which means they are on every edition including the least expensive one. Moving them into a paid tier would be a pricing change that contradicts a published commitment, not a product decision.

- Customers, units, parts and inventory
- Service orders and order lines
- General ledger and accounts payable
- Payroll preparation and ACH files
- Technician productivity and advisor sales
- Customer price matrices
- QuickBooks Desktop general journal

## Open formats, not a proprietary dump

An export that only our software can read is not an export. Files come out in the formats the tools your accountant and your analysts already open natively.

- Tabular data as CSV, readable by any spreadsheet or database
- Accounting in the interchange formats accounting packages import
- No format that requires our software to interpret

## Ninety days of access after you cancel

Cancellation does not start a countdown on your records. You keep export access for ninety days after the account closes, which is long enough to finish a migration, close a year, and answer the question you did not think to ask on the way out.

- Export access survives cancellation for ninety days
- No fee to retrieve your own data, during or after
- No requirement to talk to a retention team first

## Nothing about your data is a lever

We do not charge for access to your own records, gate compliance surfaces behind an edition, or require payment processing before a feature works. Those are three separate commitments because they are three separate things vendors in this market actually do.

- No charge for the customer's own data, at any point
- Safety and compliance work, including DVIR viewing and the audit log, is never gated
- Payment processing is optional, and no feature is gated behind it
- Month-to-month by default; a contract only ever lowers your price

## Shipped, and included on every edition

These are available now, in the core pack on every edition — not an enterprise tier and not an add-on, because the Bill of Rights says access is not something we charge for. Mint a scoped key in Settings → Developers; the reference lives at help.meridianhdx.com/developers.

- **A documented public API** — A REST API over your customers, units, work orders, parts, appointments, invoices, vendors and purchase orders, carrying the same permissions your users have. The OpenAPI description is published at /api/openapi.json and is generated from the code, so it cannot drift from what the endpoints actually accept.
- **A remote MCP server** — The same keys and the same permission scopes, spoken as MCP, so the AI tools your team already uses can work against your shop's real data with your rules applied. A key sees only the tools its scopes allow.
- **A full-organization export** — One archive of everything your shop has recorded — around a hundred CSV files, from customers and work orders to the general ledger — with a README explaining what is in it. It is in Settings under Your Data and it works on a cancelled account for ninety days. What it leaves out, it names in the README: access credentials, catalog pricing that belongs to a supplier rather than to you, our own billing records about your account, and file attachments — it is database records, not photos. Download it from the app; the API surface stays per-area.
- **Outbound webhooks** — Events pushed to your systems as they happen rather than polled, signed so you can prove a delivery came from us, and retried on a published ladder if your endpoint is down. Subscriptions are managed through the API today; a settings screen for them is still to come.

## Nothing is currently in build and unavailable

Nothing is currently in this list. When something we have committed to is not yet available, it is named here rather than left implied — a commitment you discover was aspirational is worse than one you were told the truth about.

## Ask us the hard version of this question.

If you are evaluating us against a vendor you are currently trying to leave, tell us what went wrong there. It is the most useful thing you can say to us, and it is how these commitments got written.
